SEARCH AND PRINT SERVICE

One of the major problems researchers encounter is trying to find accurate information about their ancestors, the places that they came from or the homes in which they lived.

HUGUENOT TRAILS’ researchers are experts who work with all the sources that are available across Europe, especially in France, Belgium and Holland, the UK and Ireland and the USA.  They can undertake searches by name or location at local, parish, departmental, county, regional and national archives and libraries.

Our researchers in the UK have access to the Huguenot Library, the National Archives at Kew (London), the Family Records Centre in London and the County Records Offices in the UK, all of which we can use to enhance your research.  In France we have access to the Bibliotheque Nationale, Société de l’Histoire du Protestantisme Français, regional and departmental archives and libraries, together with the many French genealogical societies, whether specialising in Huguenot or Protestante records or not.  In the USA, we have access to all the major national libraries and resources as well as many of the Huguenot libraries and genealogical groups.

One of the major benefits of the service we provide is that we have access to the digital records of the main French, English and Belgian Huguenot/Walloon research bodies, either through their own publications or through material that we have digitised ourselves to assist our clients. These include church records, material from books, records of research already undertaken and published in rather obscure journals over the past 120 years, as well as the Bulletins of the Société d’Histoire de Protestantisme Française and the Huguenot Society of London and Great Britain.

However, before embarking on archive or library-based research, the HUGUENOT TRAILS team are happy to provide a thorough database search service for you.  When you give us the name or place in which you have an interest, we will digitally search all the major relevant published Huguenot sources in Belgium, Holland, France and the UK, and provide you with information (number of hits in number of publications) in which we have found your name or place and whether they are English/American or European.

You can then order the references that we have cited.  Each reference will consist of at least three pages, the title page, all the entry/entries (which will depend on the number of hits), and the index page. We will normally print and mail these to you.  Alternatively, the documents can be transferred to disk though the price increases by 50% because of the extra work involved.

Please note that searches will also include searches of Henry Wagner’s published pedigrees.  Please click here for list.

Unless we are asked to we do not use Internet secondary sources like Family Search (LDS/IGI) because of the high incidence of mistakes and the lack of complete records on this site.
